Hot Rod Hamster Hide and Seek Game

The Waupaca BookFest is holding a search & find game in downtown Waupaca during the two weeks leading up to the festival. From April 1-16, families are invited to look for the children’s book character Hot Rod Hamster, who is hidden in downtown businesses.

To start the game, players pick up a Hot Rod Hamster game card at Dragonwings Bookstore, 110 S. Main St. (inside The Bookcellar), and begin looking for Hot Rod Hamster at thirteen different locations downtown. When players spot the hiding hamster, they get their game cards stamped, and keep following his trail around Main St. Once players have eight or more stamps, they can bring their cards back to Dragonwings to claim a prize, and to enter a drawing to win books, posters or stickers – all signed by Derek Anderson, the illustrator of the Hot Rod Hamster books.

Derek Anderson will be at the Waupaca BookFest at 10:00am on April 18th at the Waupaca Public Library. His entertaining program for children ages 3-9 will feature all of his book characters and include some drawing demonstrations. The program is free and open to the public. Anderson’s books will be for sale at a book signing immediately following the program. All festival books will be available to purchase throughout the day, and during the Autograph Session from 3:00-4:00pm, in the Exhibit Room at the Waupaca Public Library. Anderson’s books are currently available at Dragonwings Bookstore.
